Workshop:

Coming to terms with the ageing and death of our elders

It can be a shock when our parents become weaker, less able, or ill. It’s a shock for them too. These sessions focus on how we can adjust to the changes in the relationships with ourselves and our elders as we transition through this stage of life.

You can do this alone or bring your old/young with you.

This workshop was suggested to me by my daughter-in-law and immediately I saw how much I would have valued such a course myself as my mother aged and I became somewhat more of a carer.

We will talk in general about the common experience of ageing and the changing relationship dynamics that result. We will explore the things we as people ageing need to say to our adult children and also listen to what they need to say to us. The purpose of this workshop is to safely explore and express some of the ways relationships change – the losses, the skills needed to cope with these changes, the questions that would transform everyone’s lives if we asked them, and the mindset that might make these conversations reasonably comfortable.

And ideally together, chart some of the things we would love to create in our relationships with our family as we navigate the time ahead.
