Workshop:

Transitions

We can prepare for old age in many different ways: stay healthy, have a will, develop and maintain good relationships, but any one of these can be abruptly disrupted by a sudden change in health or a slow onset of dementia.

In this workshop we are going to look at how transitions, both abrupt and slow, disrupt our experience of the meaning of our lives. And we all know someone who no longer feels any sense of knowing why they are alive. We don’t want that to be us. So what can we do now to make sure that our lives and engaged and meaningful until our last breath?

In this workshop we take time to look at the nature of transitions, especially as we age when statistics show we have more and more intense transitions that at any other time of our lives. Of course we can never really be prepared for massive and tragic transitions, but there is value in taking a few hours to explore your own transition experience and to work with the Map of Meaning as a way to identify some practical things we can begin to do now before we need them.

This course is being run in partnership with Meaningful Ageing Australia in 2025.
